Franklin Hardware & Pet Center opened in 1988 in what was, originally, an automotive garage, and is still independently operated by our Board of Directors today. At that time, our store was only about 9,000 sq. feet and had very limited warehouse and storage space. Our store was named Franklin Hardware & Pet Center for two reasons: We are located in Franklin County, PA and, also, because of Franklin Feed & Supply Co. which was established prior to our retail store. Franklin Hardware & Pet Center was founded to supplement Franklin Feed & Supply Co. by providing hardware, lawn and garden, electrical, plumbing, and of course, pet food and supplies, as well as a wide-range of services to our local farm-based customers.

Franklin Hardware & Pet Center has been fortunate enough, with the support of our customers, to grow and expand throughout the past 29 years. Our first expansion was in 2003, when we added 11,000 sq. feet of space, 3,000 of which went to our warehouse! This allowed our pet department to go from 3,000 to 10,000 sq. feet and our aquatics dept. expanded from 26 aquariums to nearly 180! Our second expansion took place in 2006 when we added another 8,000 sq. feet taking us to a total of 28,000! With this, we expanded our lawn & garden section and added dozens of new products. Our last expansion was in 2009 when we added a pond & water garden section where we sell live pond plants and freshwater fish, as well as a full line of supplies and fountains.

Our store has something to offer for everyone! We have an assortment of small animals, birds, and reptiles, as well as fresh fish, kittens, and a full line of food and supplies for all of them. Franklin Hardware & Pet Center also has over 25 lines of premium dog and cat food brands. Lawn & garden products, equine supplies, pond supplies, hunting and fishing products – including apparel, boots, deer feed, and plot seed – paint, electrical, plumbing, automotive, hardware, and tools of every kind are just some of the great products that we offer!

We also offer a wide variety of services including dog, hunting, and fishing licensing; screen, glass, and plexiglass replacements; key cutting, propane refills, custom pet ID engraving, wood pellet sales and delivery, and paint mixing - including color match.
